ORZA has shown its confidence in Mikrobiomik with a €400,000 investment as part of the capital increase concluded on 30 April, which was also taken up by all Mikrobiomik’s current stockholders.

ORZA is a direct investment organisation owned by the Elkarkidetza and Geroa pension funds which takes stakes in businesses in the Basque Country and Navarre.

“ORZA does not take a short-term view. It is a stockholder that intends to maintain its stake for longer than a venture capital fund would, and it could fund subsequent phases of our growth, providing greater flexibility than other comparable organisations” – states Juan Basterra, CEO of Mikrobiomik.

Mikrobiomik is a bio-pharmaceutical start-up which was founded with the goal of becoming the first company in the world to register faecal microbiota as a biological medicine in the EU, for use in cases of recurrent Clostridium difficile.
